Thanks for the detailed writeup (although I don't understand why you love Hawaiian pizza so much).

I am visiting Japan for the first time in October for two weeks and am planning on ordering pizza one night just for the "weird" factor. I would prefer to stay away from Dominos or Pizza Hut just because these chains exist in the US even though they are very different in Japan.

I was wondering if there are any Pizza LA or Aoki pizza branches in Shinjuku? I'm going to be in Japan for a vacation & tried Aoki's from a friend but he lived all the way in Kawaguchi. I tried checking both sites for locations unfortunately it's all in Japanese sadly I can only speak the language and read hiragana/katakana. Thank You.

There's nothing wrong with broccoli on pizza. Most veggie pizzas in the Us also feature this, as well as in other countries. Mayo is a gross topping on pizza, but you don't have to get it. Also, there are plenty of good places to sit down and eat a yummy pizza in Japan, you're just not looking hard enough.

I'm back to explain why i don't like Hawaiian pizza because you can definetly not compare it with liking or not liking sex! :)))
In Romania, we have lots of foods made out of fruits, but only a few people actually eat and like it. Foods like plums stew or quinces stew or peaches stew... Well the thing is, most of us feel like fruits are there for dessert and they are supposed to be eatten after actual food. Also, it's kinda illogical to us to mix up the sweetness of fruits and the salt in actual food. I mean "sweet food" is no food anymore, it's simply dessert. So mixing sugar and salt is not quite to our liking. :D
On a personal note, i hate all sorts of pineapple, so i would definetly not ruin a pizza by adding pieces of that fruit.

Good recommendations!

I have eaten pizza at italian restaurants before, usually they're really good and probably much healthier, but smaller and not quite as filling for me.

Looks like there's even a Salvatore that will deliver to me, though I've never seen any of their flyers in my post box... I'll give them a try sometime.

PS. I just want to say that SpamFromJapan is right: even if there's an English menu, it won't help you because the order system (online) and the staff (on the phone) won't understand you unless you know the pizza names in Japanese.

The best delivery pizza in the Kanto region is Salvatore. You should probably add it to your research.

You can customize your pizzas on domino's rather well. I got a nice Hawiian customization there I order often and it's only 1700yen before coupons.
