七光

ななひかり [nanahikari] – Literally: “seven lights”, this word refers to a person whose success or fame is owed largely to their powerful/influential parents (or spouse).

It is derived from a proverb, 親の光は七光り [oya no hikari wa nanahikari].

You may wonder why the number seven appears; the reason is that 7 is a number often used to mean ‘many’ or ‘a large number’.
